Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions people ask before sending us a card.

How is CALIBRE different from PSA or CGC?

PSA and CGC graders look at your card and decide, against their written standards - and you get the grade, not the measurements behind it. CALIBRE measures your card and shows you the measurements and photos behind the grade in a public report - so you can check it yourself, not just trust it. £25 a card - return postage always on us, back within 7 days of arrival.

Will a CALIBRE slab sell for more?

Straight answer: on big chase cards, a PSA 10 still sells for the most - PSA has decades of sales history and we're new. What a CALIBRE slab gives your buyer is proof: they can look up every measurement and photo behind the grade from the number on the label. Selling a big card abroad? PSA is still the safer bet. Want a quick, honest grade on a card you're keeping, or selling in the UK? That's what we're for.

Is my card checked for authenticity?

Yes. Every card is checked by hand under calibrated lighting before we grade it.

Is a measured grade consistent?

Every card is measured against the same standards, so your grade doesn't depend on who's working that day. Your report shows the measurements behind your grade, with photos. If something looks wrong, you'll be able to see it.

What if I disagree with a grade?

Tell us within 14 days of getting your report. If we really did make a mistake, we'll measure the card again for free and show you exactly what we found. Because it's a measurement and not someone's opinion, we can show you exactly why.

Is my card safe with you?

It's sealed in a case you'd know if anyone opened, and posted back tracked within 7 days of arriving, not sitting in a vault for months. Every card is insured with XCover on its way back to you, at the value you give it when you order: up to £1,000 free, or its full value if you choose full-value cover. Over £2,500 in one order? Contact us first.

Are my cards insured?

Yes, on the way back to you. We insure every return parcel with XCover, our shipping insurer, at the value you give each card when you order: up to £1,000 a card at no cost, or its full value if you tick full-value cover at checkout (1.25% of the amount over £1,000). It covers loss and theft in the post, up to £2,500 an order. If anything goes wrong, we make the claim and pay you - you don't deal with XCover yourself. On the way to us, your carrier's cover applies, so use a tracked service. Full details in our Terms.

How do I pack and post my card?

Put it in a penny sleeve, then a semi-rigid holder (like a Card Saver), in a padded envelope. Post it on a tracked service, so you have proof it reached us - we cover the trip back. Our step-by-step packing guide.

Can I cancel?

Yes - cancel any time before we start grading and get your money back. If you tick "Start grading as soon as my card arrives" at checkout, we start the moment it arrives. If not, we start 15 days after your order, once your 14-day cancellation period has ended.

Which cards can you grade?

Pokémon and Lorcana today - holo, reverse-holo, foil, textured foil and secret rares all go through the same process at the same £25. See how we grade Lorcana. More games coming.
