Cookie Policy

Last updated 6 October 2026

This page explains the cookies and similar storage (such as your browser's local storage) that CALIBRE uses, why, and how you can manage your choices. Analytics cookies, Reddit's ad pixel and our own session recordings only happen if you click Accept. A few other things happen as soon as you visit. Everything is listed below.

1. The short version

These are first-party items that make the site work or remember something you've asked for. They are exempt from consent under UK law (PECR). We never use them to track you across other sites.

3. Other items set whether you accept or not

These aren't strictly needed for the site to work, but at the moment they're used whatever you choose on the banner. None of them contain your name or contact details.

NameProviderWhat it's forSet whenLasts
cwp_hero_variantCALIBREPicks which of two homepage headlines you see, and keeps it the same on repeat visits, so we can compare them. If you click the main homepage button, which version you saw is included when Google Analytics records that click.Your first visit to the homepage30 days

Anonymous visit statistics (not a cookie): whatever you choose, we count how our pages are used - pages opened, buttons tapped, how far people scroll, and order-page steps - without cookies and without storing or reading anything on your device. Nothing you type into a form is recorded, your IP address isn't stored, and visits can't be linked from one day to the next. It's deleted after 90 days, and it switches off if your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. Full details are in our Privacy Policy (section 3).

4. Only if you click Accept

These are only set after you click Accept. Google Analytics, Reddit's pixel and our own analytics don't load at all until then.

NameProviderWhat it's forSet whenLasts
_gaGoogleGoogle Analytics: tells one visitor from another, so we can see how the site is used. After you click Accept2 years

_rdt_cidRedditReddit's ad pixel: keeps the ad click ID if you arrived by clicking one of our Reddit ads. After you click Accept, only if you came from a Reddit ad90 days
_rdt_cfgRedditReddit's ad pixel: its settings for your current visit. After you click AcceptUntil you close the tab (session storage)
calibre_visitor_idCALIBREOur own analytics: a random ID that lets us recognise your browser when you come back, so we can follow your visits over time (for example, which page you first arrived on before you ordered). After you click AcceptUntil you clear it (local storage). The visit data linked to it is deleted after 13 months.
calibre_session_idCALIBREOur own analytics: a random ID that groups the pages and session recording from one visit. After you click AcceptUntil you close the tab (session storage)

Our own analytics and session recordings. If you click Accept, our own analytics records the pages you view, what you click (including the words on the button or link), how far you scroll, where you came from (the previous website and any campaign tags in the link, including Reddit's ad click ID), and your browser, device type and screen size. It also makes a session recording: a replay of how each page looked and how you moved, scrolled and clicked. Anything you type into a form is hidden in recordings, but other text on the screen can appear in them, for example your order details when you view your account. It's all stored in our own database; we don't use an outside recording company. Our Privacy Policy has the full details. Session recordings are deleted automatically after 90 days, and our visit statistics after 13 months.

5. Google Analytics, and what Reject does

If you click Accept, we load Google Analytics (property G-5BLYPGLF0Q) to understand how the site is used so we can improve it, and we turn on IP anonymisation. It sets the cookies listed in section 4.

If you click Reject, or don't choose, Google Analytics, Reddit's pixel and our own analytics and session recordings are never loaded, and their cookies are never set. We remember your choice so we don't ask again. The items in sections 2 and 3 are still used.

6. Payment (Stripe)

Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe, so we never see or store your card number. Stripe's payment form on our payment page sets two cookies on our site to help prevent fraud. They're needed to take payment safely, so they don't need consent.

NameProviderWhat it's forSet whenLasts
__stripe_midStripeFraud prevention.On the payment page1 year
__stripe_sidStripeFraud prevention.On the payment page30 minutes

Stripe may also set cookies on its own domains. These are governed by Stripe's cookie policy.

7. Managing your choices

You can change your decision at any time:

If you switch from Accept to Reject, Google Analytics stops using its cookies straight away, and none of the three load from the next page you open. Cookies that were already set stay in your browser until they expire or you clear them.

You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings. Note that clearing the items in section 2 may sign you out, empty a saved order, or bring the cookie banner back.
