The pre-check runs a cut-down version of the very same centring measurement our
grading rig performs on every submission. It’s a simplified, single-photo guide — not
your final grade — but it’s a genuinely useful first look at where a card stands.

What it isn’t

The pre-check is a guide, not a grade. A single phone photo can’t replace the
calibrated, multi-angle scan our rig runs on every card — focus, lighting and angle
all change what one image can show. Treat it as a quick sense-check, not the final
word. Your real, certified grade always comes from the physical measurement in our UK
lab, and the pre-check never sees your card the way the rig does.

Getting a clean read

• Lay the card flat on a plain background — a dark surface for
  Pokémon, a light one for Lorcana — and fill the frame with a little space around the
  edges.
• Shoot straight down in even light, with no glare, shadows or
  reflections.
• Upload the front and read your estimate. If a clearer photo would help, the tool
  will tell you.
